Palm Up Hand

Palm Up Hand at U+1FAF4 is an emoji showing an open hand with the palm facing upward, usually meaning offering, receiving, asking, or presenting something. It sits in the Symbols and Pictographs Extended-A block and is grouped with People & Gestures emoji, where it acts as a visual gesture rather than a letter or punctuation mark. In everyday chat and social media, it is commonly used like a hand extended to give or request something: “pay me,” “hand it over,” “for you,” “here’s this,” or “please.” It often appears beside money, gifts, food, links, or quoted text to make the gesture feel like offering an item to the reader. It can also suggest a polite presentation pose, as if displaying a product, idea, announcement, or punchline. In emoji combinations, people use it with sparkles, hearts, coins, or objects to create meanings such as generosity, service, expectation, or “I’m waiting.” Skin tone modifiers are available, and the exact angle or cupped shape may vary across platforms.
