Cold Face

cold face with U+1F976 depicts a blue, icy face with clenched teeth, often with frost, icicles, or a shivering expression. It means freezing cold, physical chill, numbness, or being overwhelmed by low temperatures, whether from winter weather, air conditioning, ice baths, or a drink that is painfully cold. In everyday messages, it is sent for “I’m freezing,” snow-day complaints, cold hands, drafty rooms, and jokes about needing a blanket. It can also exaggerate discomfort, shock, awkwardness, or emotional frostiness, as in a chilly reception, a brutal comeback, or someone acting cold and distant. On social media it often appears with snowflake, ice cube, wind face, thermometer, coat, hot drink, or fire emoji to contrast cold and warmth. Some users also use it playfully for “cold” style, icy confidence, or something impressive in a cool, detached way, though its main reading remains shivering from the cold.
